Mood Disorders

A mood disorder is a mental health condition that primarily affects your emotional state, causing persistent and severe disturbances in emotion, such as deep sadness, extreme elation, or both. It goes beyond typical emotional fluctuations, making it difficult to function in daily life, work, or relationships. In the case of depression, it can lead to intense, ongoing sadness, loss of interest in activities, sleep problems, social withdrawal, low self worth and fatigue. Both cognitive behavioural therapy as well as medication are sometimes required to optimally manage the more severe mood disorders.
